The Tales and Travels of Taylor Made PA – Two Years In

Starting the Journey!
This time Two Years ago I had just returned from a short break in Spain visiting my Dad and was about to resign from my Full Time PA Role to the Chief Executive of a UK Hospitality Service Company.
On the 29th April 2019 I sat down at my desk for the time as the Full-Time Self-Employed Business Owner of Taylor Made PA Virtual Assistant Services.
I’d always dreamed of having my own “Taylor Made” Business and now Two Years In – it is fully established, and I have some amazing clients and I know who I am and where I want to be.
The beginning of an exciting journey!
I started my journey to Taylor Made PA in 2018 after a meeting with VIP VA – now the APVA, The Association of Professional Virtual Assistants – at the PA Show.
I worked as a Corporate PA for 12 years in London, most of it spent supporting an HR Executive Team in a FTSE250 Company. I had started my PA career as a Temp PA and had considered looking into becoming a VA before but didn’t think it was feasible as the sole earner.
But that chanced meeting at the PA Show in the snow convinced me it was possible!
And like all journeys, it has had its ups and downs – and Covid-19 closing the world down really didn’t help!
Yes, there have been good days and bad, long days and short nights, but would I change it? Not a chance!! It has not always been easy and it didn’t grow maybe as quickly as I would have liked. But I was often reminded that Rome was not built in a day back in my Travel Agency days!
How did I get here?
12 Months in I wasn’t sure I was heading in the right direction. I wasn’t sure if I was even doing the right thing. And I took some guidance from a Lead VA I was working with on an Associate basis and reached out to Amanda Johnson, A VA Mentor and Coach and owner of VACT – Virtual Assistant Coaching and Training – for some advice.
Although I had never worked or spoken with Amanda before, I respected some of the VA’s I knew she had worked with and the results they had achieved, and I needed a fresh pair of eyes and asked if she would be happy for me to book in for a Power Hour.
I am honestly not sure I would still be here if it wasn’t for her guidance that day. She just seemed to completely get who I was and what I could offer to my potential clients. I was able to refocus my Business and have more confidence in what I was offering from just that one call.
Two Years In
So here I am, another year later and two years in. And I won’t lie, Covid-19 made the past year tough. I also have a Travel Business and bookings cancelled and future earnings were lost.
But I have also managed to use the time to refine my services.
Introducing the Productivity PA
So, a year after launching this version of the Taylor Made PA website, I am currently in the process of refining it. It is the year to put the PA back into Taylor Made PA.
Moving forward I will be focused on supporting you in becoming more productive. Working in partnership with you. Helping you to overcome that feeling of overwhelm, when you are trying to juggle your overflowing inbox, multiple diary appointments and eventually making the associated travel arrangements.
I want to take away the stress you feel when you are trying to manage all this yourself.

2021 sees me celebrate my 30th year since I first joined the Travel Industry! Yes, I know I don’t look old enough!
Since the Summer of 2019 I have been working in partnership with Premier Travel, a High Street Travel Agency based in Cambridgeshire, who themselves celebrate 85 years in 2021.
It seemed a logical introduction to my services, having worked as a Travel Agent for so many years before I became a PA and go back to my roots and be able to offer a fully ABTA Bonded travel booking service,
